Heatwave

On the radio they've announced a heatwave and started playing 'It's getting hot in here'. People outisde are walking around in thongs, wearing the skimpiest of clothing. Public parks are packed with sunbathers. It can only mean one thing...

The temperature is going over twenty degrees! Yay! It's going to be twenty one degrees today!

It doesn't mean that you can walk into the park naked - again - and scare everyone away !!! (hehe)

Don't worry - over twenty degrees means I stop wearing thermal underwear. I'm still fully clothed.

Joe!!! They're really walking around in thongs round your way?? That really is skimpy clothing.

(You can take the man out of Oz but obviously you can't make him speak Brit.)

Has it also been freezing out your way these past few weeks? I think it has been even colder here in Germany than back in Sydney which is going into winter now. In Germany they have an expression called "t-shirt weather" which means that you can walk around with only a t-shirt on without another 3 layers of jumpers on top.

I've made several adjustments to my vocabulary since living here but I will NEVER say flip-flops. It has to be the daggiest name ever.

It has been cold over the last month but now it really is quite warm. I just got back from 5 days in Norway and it's mid-twenties here!

Hey, flip-flop is an ace word. Very onomatopoeiaic. (Particularly when walking down escalators)

Over 30 degrees yesterday. Apparently Hong Kong was only 27!!

I know... believe it or not I spoke with a West-Midlands accent until I was 5 and said flip-flops and all the rest. That changed very quickly when I started school and got teased for speaking weird! I think that's why I have the aversion :)
